What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a unique treatment that utilizes thousands of tiny needle punctures on the upper layers of your skin. These small needle punctures create micro-channels in your facial tissue, which ultimately prompts your skin to produce more collagen and elastin, causing your skin to develop new, healthier skin tissue. The micro-channels the procedure creates also make the absorption of creams, gels and serums more effective. The treatment involves running a handheld device along your skin that feature a cartridge containing needles that can penetrate the skin at depths from 0.5 to 2.5 millimeters. The depth of the needles depends on which part of your face needs treatment. More fleshy parts, such as the cheeks, will require a deeper depth, while an area such as the forehead will need a shallower depth. 

Microneedling is an excellent cosmetic procedure that can boost your beauty by reducing fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, hyper/hypo-pigmentation and stretch marks. What Happens During a Microneedling Treatment?

Microneedling is a non-surgical procedure that takes approximately 60 minutes, including numbing time. Your treatment will begin with your skin being cleansed and a topical anesthetic is applied to help mitigate any discomfort. After the anesthetic has remained on your skin for approximately thirty minutes it is removed and your skin is cleansed again. A light layer of serum is then applied. Next, the microneedling device is glided evenly across your skin horizontally, vertically and circularly. After the microneedling is complete, another layer of serum is applied to help soothe the skin.

Microneedling is a tolerable experience that creates exceptional results. Your skin will be visibly brighter and fresh with vitality immediately after the treatment. For optimal results, it is recommended to have a microneedling procedure once a month for three months. Your skin continues to produce more collagen and elastin, firming your skin. Results last for a year typically.
